THE FIVE STEP GUIDE TO YOUR NEWBORN PORTRAITS
STEP ONE: BEFORE YOUR SESSION
This is where we get to know each other a bit more. I love scheduling a time to chat on the phone with you. This is where we go over all the details together and select your session date, time and location.
STEP TWO: TWO WEEKS
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Two weeks before your scheduled session, you will hear from me again just to make sure you are all set for your baby’s BIG day. We will make sure you know exactly what you plan on wearing. We will also make sure all is scheduled with my amazing hair and makeup artist (an amazing benefit of having your maternity portraits done with KFP is that I include complimentary hair and makeup in your session)!
STEP THREE:
DAY OF YOUR SESSION
My hair and makeup artist will meet you first. She will pamper you so you are feeling nothing short of amazing! I will then meet you at your chosen location or welcome you into my small in-home studio! We will spend about 2-3 hours photographing, chatting and admiring your baby! And there is no reason to worry about being photographed or posing. I will guide you every step of the way!
STEP FOUR: VIEWING & ORDERING
Oh! This is my favorite part! Once we are done photographing, we will schedule your Ordering Appointment. It can be a couple days later OR you can grab a bite to eat while I quickly download your images (this just takes about an hour). Then we meet up again so you can view your newborn portraits the SAME DAY we took them and select which ones you’d like to be printed. I’ll have a collection of the most popular products with me so you can see, and I’ll help you choose what’s best for you.
STEP FIVE: PRODUCT PICK UP
About 4-5 weeks after your session, I will have received all your boutique products (more details on what is available below) and you will be WOWed when you see them in person! They are beautiful!
INVESTMENT
A signed contract and a retainer fee of 250 is required to reserve your newborn portrait date with Kristine Freed. The booking fee includes a planning consultation, wardrobe styling, complimentary hair and makeup, your session date and time and your Viewing & Ordering Appointment.
Prints, products and digitals are additional.

You may select from the a la carte OR the collections menu. A la carte starts at 500. Collections start at 1200.
FRAMED STORYBOARD COLLECTION A collection of 3 or 9 of your favorite portraits all in one finished and framed linen art piece. These are available in two sizes. Storyboard Collections start at 800.
WALL ART Your portrait printed on your choice of canvas, metal, standout or wood block. Wall Art starts at 500.
KEEPSAKE IMAGE BOX A collection of your favorite portraits in an 11×14 folio box or 5×7 glass box. Images are mounted for durability and safely stored in a Keepsake Image Box or gifted to grandparents. Keepsake Image Boxes start at 700.
SIGNATURE ALBUM The perfect way to receive portraits taken at your session! Each album is custom designed and lays flat when open. A variety of cover options are available. Albums start at 700.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT NEWBORN PORTRAITS
Not sure about newborn photography? I get it- you’re about to bring a brand-new baby into the world and that isn’t cheap these days. I’ve tried to make the newborn photography process so easy for new moms. Let me answer a few questions that tend to pop up so you can see just how easy it is!
When do you suggest booking our session?
Book while you’re still pregnant! Contact me during your second trimester, around 20-28 weeks to hold your due date. I only take a limited number of newborns each month. We will finalize the actual session date once baby arrives. If you’re already past that window, reach out as soon as possible; I may still be able to accommodate you depending on availability. The session will take place around 10-15 days after birth. They’ve had a chance to cuten up a bit but they are still super tiny. Plus mom has a chance to recover a bit before getting in front of the camera! Obviously you won’t know when your baby will be born unless you have a scheduled C-section, so I book newborn sessions for a window of time.
What is the ideal age for newborn photos?
For posed sessions, the sweet spot is 10-15 days after birth, when babies sleep deeply and curl naturally. For lifestyle sessions, the flexible window runs from about 1-8 weeks old.
What if my baby arrives early or late?
Contact me within 24-48 hours of delivery regardless of timing. For premature babies, I schedule by adjusted age and will guide you on the right timeline once baby is home and stable.
What do I get with a newborn photography session?
● A one-on-one consultation so I can get to know your family and your vision for the session.
● Step-by-step instructions on how to prepare for the session
● Professional hair and makeup for you, mom
● Warm & cozy session filled with backdrops, wraps, hats, and headbands (you don’t have to bring anything unless you want to!)
● In-person design and ordering appointment, so you’ll have the perfect prints (instead of keeping them all on your hard drive)
Wait, did you say professional hair and makeup?
Yes, yes I did! I know how crazy those first days are after bringing home your baby. You rarely get the chance for a hot shower, let alone enough time to do your hair and makeup. You deserve to be pampered a bit, which is why hair and makeup is included!
Can my husband and other children be in the photos?
Of course! The whole family is welcome for no additional fee. I love including the whole family, and there is something so special about sibling photos.
What if my baby doesn’t sleep?
It’s incredibly rare for a baby not to sleep for at least a portion of our session. I have many tricks up my sleeve to coax your little one back to sleep.
How long will it take to get my photos?
I know you want to see those precious photos as soon as possible! That’s why we schedule your ordering appointment as soon as a few days after the session.
What if I don’t want my baby’s photos online?
I understand that some parents don’t want photos of their little one online. If that’s your choice, no problem! Just let me know at your consultation.
