What to Wear

What to wear?

What should you wear to your photography session? You can find great What to Wear inspiration on my Pinterest page!

What should we wear?

This depends on the type of session you are having and the look you want. Clothing is very important in a photograph.

Things I love:
color- bright fun color
lots of layers

I recommend wearing layers as much as possible to add interest and texture. I also recommend clothing with texture, such as chunky sweaters, clothing with ruffles, buttons, ribbons… anything that has a grit to it.

Accessories are my favorite accent to a photograph- use ties, scarves, hats, headbands, tanks, sweaters, necklaces, bracelets, belts, earrings, tights, funky boots/shoes…

Families: coordinate colors so that everyone blends together as a group. Think coordinated, but not matchy-matchy. Pick a pattern and pull colors from there. Think simple, fun and relaxed yet stylish. Most importantly, be comfortable with what you wear and let it reflect who you are. Feel free to bring a couple changes of clothing to the session. If your child is up for it we can change as many times as you like.

Maternity: jeans (under belly or pre pregnancy… doesn’t matter if you can button them), tank/tube top/camisole/bandeau style bra, button down shirt, flattering lingerie, boy shorts (those tiny boy style underpants or similar type short shorts), vibrant accessories, scarves, jean jacket, tight fitting skirt/dress… anything that makes you feel good and shows off your beautiful belly.

Newborn: naked. We can add fun hats, booties, blankets, a special outfit, baskets, etc to add color & texture.

Babies/Toddlers/Children: Keep it simple and comfortable. Babies can be in a diaper. Babies & toddlers usually don’t like too many clothing changes. Bare feet are great!
